Amazing Race AU 2019 – Week 4 Recap

PRIZE: Bragging rights, $250,000 and the title of AMAZING RACE AUSTRALIA!

START LOCATION: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
END LOCATION: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Hey all, I missed last week so would like to give a big shout out to Chris and Adrienne, mainly Chris for being a trooper after falling off the camel :O and I hear he’s recovering well. Also, to my country SISTAS, I was so devastated seeing them sent home, over a stupid penalty, because they couldn’t find a box in the sand… Not a fan of this automatic penalty resulting from chance. But alas, I do not make the rules. Hayley and Mikayla were front-runners for me, and I hope they know how AWESOME they are!! Something new we saw this week was the “Intersection”. I didn’t mind it, but could be potentially be a boring filler… Thankfully we had Jasmin and Jerome v Sid and Ash to make it worth it’s while 😉

Team #1 – Tom & Tyler

ROADBLOCK 1: Who Does Things to the Letter? – Tyler
DETOUR 1: Cultivate
ROADBLOCK 2: Who’s Ready to Gorge Themselves? – Tom
DETOUR 2: Build It
FAST FORWARD: Poo Success!
PLACINGS (Ep 1-8): 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 1st, 1st (Avg 1.50)

ALL HAIL TOM AND TYLER. Where did they come from? And does this Race deserve them? Not much has held the footy boys back and right now they are a shoe-in to take home the title. To be honest, I think every other team has been one step behind these guys, with the only other team I’d rank up there with them being the country sisters who’ve left. It’s now their Race to lose and I just don’t see it happening… Something would have to go terribly wrong! Maybe a task that’s more mental (which we haven’t seen much of) like the pooey Fast Forward they struggled to complete will be their undoing… but unlikely!

Team #2 – Tim & Rod

ROADBLOCK 1: Who Does Things to the Letter? – Rod
DETOUR 1: Cultivate
ROADBLOCK 2: Who’s Ready to Gorge Themselves? – Rod
DETOUR 2: Build It
PLACINGS (Ep 1-8): 4th, 4th, 3rd, 5th, 5th, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd (Avg 3.38)

Umm, my gay babies are right up there giving the footy boys a run for their money. Tim and Rod are ready to be the new number ones!! But can they get there?? They’ve placed themselves nicely among various alliances and are open to work with anyone and it certainly has benefitted them. I don’t think they are the strongest team, they’ve had a lot of help along the way from other teams, but if it gets you ahead of the pack, make the most of it! THREE second places in a row, these boys are salivating at the thought of Beau yelling TEAM #1!! Expect these boys in the Final 3.

Team #3 – Jasmin & Jerome

ROADBLOCK 1: Who Does Things to the Letter? – Jerome
DETOUR 1: Separate
ROADBLOCK 2: Who’s Ready to Gorge Themselves? – Jerome
DETOUR 2: Build It
PLACINGS (Ep 1-8): 6th, 5th, 4th, 4th, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 3rd (Avg 3.88)

Another strong two weeks from the Deadly Duo and I’m still bummed they didn’t win a prize for 1st last week! I will keep being salty. Jasmin and Jerome have a lot of strengths on this Race and I applaud them for choosing Detours like ‘Separate’ (in Leg 7). Building that wedding fence took way longer than anyone anticipated, but they made it look easy! If they had chosen Cultivate, I’m sure they would’ve been Top 3 easy! Staying along the building lines, they’ve proven they’re a force when it comes to the physical/mental tasks and I’m going to go all the way with my prediction that they make F3 and steal first place from the footy boys! I can see it happening y’all! And Jerome, your shutting down Sid at that Intersection was absolute GOLD. *slow clap*

Team #4 – Femi & Nick

ROADBLOCK 1: Who Does Things to the Letter? – Femi
DETOUR 1: Cultivate
ROADBLOCK 2: Who’s Ready to Gorge Themselves? – Nick
DETOUR 2: Build It
PLACINGS (Ep 1-8): 5th, 9th, 7th, 8th, 3rd, 6th, 4th, 4th (Avg 5.75)

HOW ARE THEY STILL HERE?! Their words, and mine. Jeez, I feel like Femi and Nick have 9 lives and have exhausted them all and more! Haha. The boys have improved somewhat as the Race has gone on, choosing their Detours wisely and ensuring there’s always a team ahead of them. I also feel a lot of luck going their way, I just feel it in me waters. I see them leaving next week and will be shocked if they make finals! But, what do I know?! They’ve proven me wrong so far 😛

Team #5 – Viv & Joey

ROADBLOCK 1: Who Does Things to the Letter? – Viv
DETOUR 1: Cultivate
ROADBLOCK 2: Who’s Ready to Gorge Themselves? – Joey
DETOUR 2: Serve It
PLACINGS (Ep 1-8): 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 7th, 7th, 5th, 3rd, 5th (Avg 4.13)

Oh my tiny Asians, it’s been a rough couple of weeks. The Mongolian and African legs have brought out the siblings fight and tenacity to never give up. That last task to the Pit Stop was absolute killer to watch! I could feel Viv’s pain! But with her determination, along with a whole lot of encouragement from the best brother in the whole wide world (his words, not really), she pushed through. And just in time before Sid and Ash’s time penalty was up. I HAD HEART PALPITATIONS WATCHING THAT!! Hallelujah, thank the Lord! I was worried about some of the tasks as they didn’t seem to favour vertically challenged peeps, but the siblings made them work. I’m so proud of Viv and Joey, and I’m scared they’re going to be out next! Pleeeeeeaasssseee last the distance <3

Team #6 – Sid & Ash

ROADBLOCK 1: Who Does Things to the Letter? – Ash
DETOUR 1: Separate
ROADBLOCK 2: Who’s Ready to Gorge Themselves? – Sid
DETOUR 2: Serve It
PLACINGS (Ep 1-8): 9th, 7th, 6th, 3rd, 4th, 1st, 6th, 6th (Avg 5.25)

Well, well, what can I say. Ash, whyyyy did you make the silly mistake to speed. This has (pretty much) always been a rule teams have to follow across the international versions of the Race. No one wants to pay your speeding fines, yo! It’s not a rule that’s meant to be broken. And even then Sid says while they’re sitting during their penalty “we’re f$&#ing machines”. Face palm. Again, I do appreciate how hard these guys fought, albeit, let’s be honest, not being very good at the Race. I still love Ash!! Sid’s ego is just too much for me and he needs to take a serious chill pill; the dude obviously isn’t used to things not going his way. Anyway, the Influencers were fun to watch, ruffled feathers (who else is gonna annoy the shit out of Jasmin and Jerome?!) and gave us a perfect villainous couple us viewers deserved. I hope we never see them again. Jokes, jokes. But just bring Ash back 😛
