Amazing Race Canada S5 – Episode 9 Recap: Combing For The Queen!

Not Much Bush in Regina!

PRIZE: A Chevy car each, a trip for two around the world, $250,000, and the title of TARC!

START LOCATION: Panama City, Republic of Panama.
END LOCATION: Regina, Saskatchewan!

Double U-Turn ahead! Ooh the teams were ruthless this week; just how I like it! We saw some random Chunky Soup cans, two teams being U-Turned and one of them bouncing back within no time (PRAISE), some cute ponies, a cute lady who loves ponies,

Team #1 – Sam & Paul

SamPaul (2)

DETOUR: Cart (and Horse, after being U-Turned)
ROADBLOCK: Where’s the Queen? – Sam
Placings: 4th, 3rd, 4th, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 1st

OHMYGOD! My boys!! Woo woo, third 1st place in a row. Surely these guys are a shoe in for the finale now. But, I shouldn’t get my hopes up because you never know what will happen in the final leg. We’ve seen it before in the US season with The Green Team, so many #1s and then they fell in the final hurdle… BUT this IS Sam and Paul. I’m calling it now, these boys have it in the bag. Haha. After this leg they’ve proven they are the team to beat; I mean, they were U-Turned and still came first! I was so impressed with them, especially with their auctioning of the horse. Sam is just a natural-born public speaker and he smashed it out. And Paul is just too cute 😛 I swoon over how he says ‘oot’ (out), hehe!

When you absolutely smash the second Detour!

One thing though, the boys were shoveling and wheel-barrowing their seeds, when they could have just moved their seed box closer to the cart like Adam and Andrea did. Would have saved time! But anywhos, so proud of these guys and ya can’t help but love em.

NUMBER ONE!!!

Team #2 – Kenneth & Ryan

KennethRyan (2)

DETOUR: Horse
ROADBLOCK: Where’s the Queen? – Kenneth
Placings: 1st, 5th, 6th, 4th, 4th, 5th, 2nd, 2nd

GIVERRRRRRRRR. Okay, it was kinda cute when Ryan was telling Kenneth he can’t wait to have little Give’r kids of his own! Hehe.

Any takers, ladies??

The Give’r boys really only have bounced back in the last three legs! Kenneth and Ryan did such a great job at the Horse Detour and I swear they finished it in like 30 seconds.

Kenneth makes an amazing cowboy!!

Give’r arrived at the U-Turn board first and plotted revenge as they U-Turned Sam and Paul. Mwahaha.

Revenge is sweet, baby!

But alas, they just could not find Queen B at the Roadblock, and even though I was so happy for Sam and Paul, I felt so bad (and embarrassed) for Give’r as they couldn’t come in first place. Who wants to be overtaken by the team they U-Turned?! Awkward… Nevertheless, second place is awesome and I’m expecting this team to make the Top 3, unless they get pipped by Karen and Bert!

Team #3 – Karen & Bert

KarenBert (2)

DETOUR: Cart
ROADBLOCK: Where’s the Queen? – Bert
Placings: 6th, 4th, 5th, 5th, 5th, 4th, 4th, 5th

I say it every week, Karen and Bert are very clever players and know their strengths and weaknesses on the Race. They don’t freak out (most of the time), and just get shit done!

Gettin’ shit done. Literally.

Oooh, I can see Karen and Bert being the dark horse (no pun intended) to win this Race! Can they do it? Sure! This was a brilliant leg for them with nothing too challenging, and as they’re not seen as a threat, no one U-Turned them. That’s always a win. This leg was their best placing yet, and funnily enough another middle of the road leg for them (out of these last 5 teams). I’m still going to say they get eliminated in the Final 4 next leg… I hope I’m right, so I can save face. Haha!

OK, how cute is Karen though?! xD

Team #4 – Korey & Ivana

KoreyIvana (2)

DETOUR: Horse
ROADBLOCK: Where’s the Queen? – Ivana
Placings: 2nd, 8th, 2nd, 6th, 6th, 3rd, 5th, 4th

So this episode we learned that Ivana loves PONIES!

PONY!!!!!!

Dear Team Panda, STOP GETTING LOST! These guys cannot get through a single leg without having mishaps with directions; it drives me nuts! I really like this team so it’s just frustrating. I think it’s safe to say, after nine legs, that they both really suck at reading maps. Sorry, guys. Haha. I was so happy that they did arrive at the U-Turn board second so they could target another team, and for the second time on the Race they blocked Adam and Andrea! And why wouldn’t ya? If you’re going to U-Turn someone, do it on a strong team. Flashback to Kristeph doing the same thing to Joel and Ashley last season… Except Korey and Ivana didn’t feel bad doing it. Hehe!

“Love ya Ashley, so we’re U-Turning you twice, kiss kiss”

It was from here they got lost on their way to the Chunky Soup *cough product placement* Challenge. These guys are either going to meet their fate next leg and get eliminated or keep their lucky streak going and make the Final 3. I have no idea what’s going to happen, but I really hope they finish in the latter!! Let’s go Team Panda!

Hahaha. This celebratory jump looks like too much effort!

Team #5 – Adam & Andrea

AdamAndrea (2)

DETOUR: Cart (and Horse, after being U-Turned)
ROADBLOCK: Where’s the Queen? – Andrea
Placings: 3rd, 7th, 3rd, 3rd, 1st, 1st, 3rd, 3rd

Don’t give up, Adam!

NOOOOO!! Aww, Team AA have met their demise. So devastated as they were one of my, and many other Amazing Race Canada fans, favourite teams to win! They actually were doing OK on this leg, but just weren’t fast enough completing the Detour. When there’s only five teams left there’s no time to mess up, it’s all Go, Go, Go! We did get this cute quote from Andrea though… Kids and oranges, eh?? (just practicing my Canadian).

Not so random, I guess!

Needless to say, Team AA were pretty pissed they were U-Turned by Korey and Ivana, AGAIN! How frustrating. The siblings go back and complete the Horse Detour and actually catch up to their U-Turnees. And Andrea even calls Team Panda out for always being the ones getting lost, haha. So true. Things don’t go well at the Chunky Soup Challenge and Adam is about to give up. No, boy! Thank goodness Andrea is there to calm his farm right down! Men… 😛 Unfortunately the bees couldn’t even save them and we said goodbye to the fun-loving bro and sis. I really thought they had the goods to make the Final 3… Maybe on a different season! It has been a pleasure to watch them and they’ve had some really fun moments, and are just so giffable! I could definitely see them on an All Stars 😉

#TeamAA <3

My Final 3: #1 Sam and Paul, #2 Team Giver, #3 Korey and Ivana (as they get lost in the final leg, haha)
