Irina’s reaction to Lauren & Joanne making the finale…

The penultimate episode gave us one of the most exciting Detours involving apples, who knew?! We see another shock elimination (that many are happy with), opening the door to a pretty level playing field for the finale.

Team #1 – Anthony & James

ROADBLOCK: Name That Herb – Anthony
DETOUR: Puck
PLACINGS: 6th, 6th, 3rd, 6th, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 5th, 3rd, 1st (Avg 3.5)

Wait until you win the Amazing Race! (maybe haha)

I swear these guys have done EVERYTHING on this Race at least once before. It’s been a constant storyline this season, and this week we learned Anthony is a professional food sniffer and James used to play ice hockey as a young lad. And if they chose the Apple Detour I’m sure they would’ve shown James telling us how he worked an Apple farm in his college days. The spirit animals worked their magic this leg and they really didn’t do much wrong! The only thing that could have held them up was the Puck Detour, but even then they were so far ahead no team could catch them. They really topped it off with a dream come true moment singing on stage at a beer church! After a rocky start to the Race (look at their first 4 legs!) they have definitely surprised me with how well they’ve done. Right now it’s easy to say they are the front runners to win the title!

Team #2 – Sarah & Sam

ROADBLOCK: Name That Herb – Sarah
DETOUR: Puck
PLACINGS: 2nd, 4th, 5th, 4th, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 4th, 2nd, 2nd (Avg 3.0)

My fave Olympic team of Amazing Race Canada… I can’t wait to see them race in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (fingers crossed!!). OK, so Sarah may have had a panic attack at the jelly (jam in Aussie speak) Roadblock, and knowing you’re the last team to complete I would too :O But being an athlete you know how to pick yourself back up, and with Sam’s encouragement and positivity they were able to smash out the following tasks in no time. Thank God they chose the Puck Detour. As athletes I would have screamed at them if they chose to sort apples! Sarah and Sam earned their spot in the finale and I’m going for them all the way! But I am worried about their sense of direction… they’re always shown getting lost. This may be the catalyst to losing the Race.

Who else wants to see more of Sam’s dancemoves?! <3

Team #3 – Lauren & Joanne

ROADBLOCK: Name That Herb – Lauren
DETOUR: Apples
PLACINGS: 4th, 8th, 4th, 5th, 6th, 4th, 5th, 2nd, 4th, 3rd (Avg 4.5)

OMGOMGOMG. I am super excited to see Lauren, Joanne and rainbow mittens make the finale!! Who would have thought, and Saskatchewan represent!! And more importantly, Regina! 😉 I think they’ve surprised us all, in a good way! Joanne saying how they’ve never been so close to Dave and Irina on the Race before; these girls are creep, creep, creepers! Watch out finale, they’re coming in hard! I was hoping the girls would do well at the Apple Detour as they seem to have a better eye at these things over D&I. After being marked as middle-to-back-of-the-pack racers, the girls have edged their way into the finale and I couldn’t be happier. I think Lauren said it at the end; it doesn’t matter how you placed earlier, getting to the end what matters most! Go Girls! <3

Joanne officially the most giffable person on S7

Team #4 – Dave & Irina

ROADBLOCK: Name That Herb – Dave
DETOUR: Apples
PLACINGS: 1st, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 3rd, 1st, 3rd, 1st, 4th (Avg 2.4)

Well, well. Here we are heading into finale week, and Dave and Irina are NOT. I didn’t actually think this would happen! I didn’t think we’d lose them and Aarthy and Thinesh before finale, and neither did Irina, haha. You can’t deny Dave and Irina did very well on this Race, despite some of the antics they pulled, they ranked the highest out of any team all season. And it’s funny how their downfall this penultimate episode came down to the one thing holding them back all season; Irina’s unwillingness to do anything ‘hard’. Dave knew (and so did we) that they could have completed the Puck Detour in no time. Irina, when she actually tries, would probably have done well, but ya know, she just can’t be bothered. Eh, can’t say I’m unhappy with this turn of events as they are grating to watch. But they’re love for each other is forever, and it’s nice to know they have that. Great race, bet they made Producers happy and expect to see them on an All Stars (ew).

Who’s the peasant now?!

See you all next week!
