Amazing Race Canada S7 – Episode 11 FINALE Recap

I’m just an Aussie who loves Canadian reality TV…

PRIZE: A Chevy Blazer each, a trip for two around the world, $250,000 and the title of AMAZING RACE CANADA!

START LOCATION: Halifax, Nova Scotia
END LOCATION: Muskoka, Ontario

The real MVP!!!

This season has shown us the beauty of communities across Canada. I have very much enjoyed traversing across the Great White North with this bunch of polarizing teams. Sure I miss having those few international legs, but I think it’s fantastic TARC are showcasing Canada and I love how at least one Roadblock or Detour is by helping some sort of organisation, no matter how badly teams may complete them. Haha! I won’t lie, I’m shocked with who made the Final 3. I thought for sure Dave & Irina and Aarthy & Thinesh would be there. But it just shows any team can make it to the end, no matter how we perceive them. So long, farewell, til Season 8!

Team #3 – Lauren & Joanne

ROADBLOCK 1: Flyboard Bean Bag – Joanne
ROADBLOCK 2: Who’s Ready for a Holiday? – Lauren
PLACINGS: 4th, 8th, 4th, 5th, 6th, 4th, 5th, 2nd, 4th, 3rd, 3rd (Avg 4.4)

BATTLERS – Never gave up and gave it their all. But ahh fishsticks!! Lauren, WHAT ON EARTH HAPPENED?! The sisters started the leg so positively, like hell yeah we beat Dave and Irina! And then lost their first clue O_O Thankfully, they did read and remember some of it. I do want to know how long it took them to reach the seaplane. Unfortunately, this boo-boo led to the girls being behind for the rest of the Race. There was a glimmer of hope when they arrived at the boardgame challenge while the other two teams were there. And also when, the Goddesses of the universe threw a lifeline, Lauren found the yellow and red candy cane in 5 seconds!! What were the odds?!

CANDYQUEEN!!!!

Honestly, you couldn’t fault Lauren and Joanne at any task; it all came down to losing that damn clue at the start. Reaching the final 3 and coming in 3rd, especially when people weren’t expecting you to, is no small feat! I’m so proud of Team Regina and flying the flag for Saskatchewan. They may not have come first in any leg, and almost went home a couple times, but the girls worked really well together throughout and brought so much joy to the season! Joanne, you’ve been a real delight to watch lighting up the screen with your rainbow mittens. I actually hope they return for another <3

Sask legends!!

Team #2 – Sarah & Sam

ROADBLOCK 1: Flyboard Bean Bag – Sam
ROADBLOCK 2: Who’s Ready for a Holiday? – Sarah
PLACINGS: 2nd, 4th, 5th, 4th, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 4th, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd (Avg 2.9)

Shouting at Santa; a bit naughty, Sarah 😉

INSPIRING – Showed us how to turn your weaknesses into strengths. Team Olympia; my pre-season favourites and who I personally wanted to see win! Oh so close. Sarah and Sam worked on their communication and became stronger each leg. They were one of the teams to beat when Aarthy and Thinesh were sent packing, but not even Dave and Irina could see that. They stayed out of the drama, may have helped other teams a little too much, but mainly focussed on themselves for the most part. Both Sarah and Sam overcame obstacles and fears (heights and ice swimming) on the Race and that’s what we love to see! In this final leg the Olympians just seemed to be a few steps behind Anthony and James the whole time, and just couldn’t get the edge on them. A formidable team who should hold their heads high on what they achieved and brought to the Race. Sarah and Same ended with the highest average out of the final 3 and the only finalists who never placed in the bottom half of the pack! Well done, team!! <3

Team #1 – Anthony & James

ROADBLOCK 1: Flyboard Bean Bag – James
ROADBLOCK 2: Who’s Ready for a Holiday? – Anthony
PLACINGS: 6th, 6th, 3rd, 6th, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 5th, 3rd, 1st, 1st (Avg 3.3)

Wow, wow, wow! Out of all the teams, Anthony and James have surprised me the most. I honestly did not see them making the finals at all, and with how they went in the first half of the Race, I would have tipped them to make 5th at best. CONGRATULATIONS Team Ahkameyimok!! It really was a dream run to the end for the couple, and I couldn’t be prouder! I think Anthony and James have to be one of the most well-rounded teams we’ve seen on this Race… They’ve done everything on this Race once before in their daily lives and were confident in almost all the tasks. They made the final leg look like a breeze! As frontrunners heading into the finale, I couldn’t fault them one bit. They were way too strong and worked impeccably well down to the last task. They made irrigation look amazingly easy, haha! The final scene made it look closer between the final 2 teams, but I’m a bit sceptical on that. So happy for Anthony and James. So deserving of the win!!

Placings and Averages

Season 8 and Beyond…

As everyone knows by now, Season 8 has been confirmed and applications are OPEN, go get it peeps! (Can I apply??) So it seems like it won’t be an All Stars.. yet! Surely it’s on the cards! Now, I only started watching from S4 (thanks Kristeph for getting me started) and am currently watching S1. Here’s who I’d like to see back:
S4: Steph & Kristen – no brainer for me, my fave lesbians who dominated S4.
Jill & Emmett – not far behind were Kristeph’s greatest competition! Although, Jillian was pretty damn annoying, haha.
Frankie & Amy – we deserve another season of Fire and Ice!! <3
S5: Sam & Paul – absolute powerhouses who stormed it home with 5 firsts in a row.
Adam & Andrea – cute and entertaining; need I say more?
S6: Taylor & Courtney – I can’t believe they didn’t win!
Martina & Phil – absolutely no-brainers! Martina is a queen!!
S7: Aarthy & Thinesh – great competitors who deserve a second chance.
Dave & Irina – I know, I know, gross, but polarizing!
Lauren & Joanne – BRINGING JOY TO THE RACE.

Lastly… Let us all bless the gays who’ve won TARC

The LGBTQI+ representation rocks!
