Amazing Race Canada S7 – Episode 2 Recap

I’m just an Aussie who loves Canadian reality TV shows…

PRIZE: A Chevy Blazer each, a trip for two around the world, $250,000 and the title of AMAZING RACE CANADA!

START LOCATION: Kamloops, British Columbia
END LOCATION: Revelstoke, British Columbia

Good ol’ Canadian Amazing Race sticking within the same province for a leg or two 😉 But unlike some other Amazing Race viewers, no complaints here! I love these driving legs and we get to see the beauty of the Canadian landscape. One day I’ll make it beyond Toronto! This leg saw the Racers travel to Revelstoke where we saw some fab motorbike stacks, not-so-confusing train tracks (unless your twins) and some what the fuck tethered kayaks. I’d also like to know how far up teams had to walk to the Pit Stop. There was also a surprise Express Pass up for grabs!

Never have I seen a team more excited over an EP!

Team #1 – Aarthy & Thinesh

ROADBLOCK: Race the Clock – Aarthy
DETOUR: Paddle
PLACINGS: 7th, 1st (Avg 4.0)

It’s party time!! Thinesh, I hope you gave Aarthy some lovin’ after that leg, smashed it out! To be honest, after last weeks 7th placing I wasn’t sure how this team would go. We have seen teams jump from last to first and back to last before, but I don’t think Aarthy and Thinesh are THAT team. Also, this bumps their average up! 😀 When Aarthy was chosen to do the bike race I was like O_O Clearly there was nothing to worry about. Gurl got me. The couple didn’t seem to have too much trouble navigating the tethered kayaks either (like wtf who paddles those?!) And just when you thought no one would be excited about building a toy train track, enter Thinesh. Boy was he in his element! Probably has the exact same set at home. Anyway, leaving the Detour first also resulted in a 1st place finish, a trip to Spain (I’ll get to you soon Irina) and an Express Pass, which Thinesh reacted like he won the lotto. CONGRATS TEAM!!

Nuff said.

Team #2 – Dave & Irina

ROADBLOCK: Race the Clock – Dave
DETOUR: Plant
PLACINGS: 1st, 2nd (Avg 1.5)

Canada’s most hated couple. Haha, Dave said it! In all seriousness, when you’re on top this is what happens. And they did back up their comments coming in 2nd! So power to them. Apparently they were OK with it, coz ya know, they’ve been to Spain before 😉 Dave and Irina yet again showed they are a power couple this season. They can do no wrong… except measuring stuff and running their mouths. Example, Irina claims their competition aren’t smart so… Edit is pointing toward the season’s villains. Someone has to fill that spot.

Team #3 – Gilles & Sean

ROADBLOCK: Race the Clock – Sean
DETOUR: Paddle
PLACINGS: 9th, 3rd (Avg 6.0)

What did I say last week?! Is this the Grandfather/Grandson team to make it to the end?! They just might be. Sure, Sean was overexcited on the motorbike he stacked it on take-off, but they are still super competitive and are giving their all. It was pretty hilarious when Gilles was like “oh yeah, I got this, I teach people how to kayak”, then was like “what the effing heck, no one paddles tethered boats!”. Ahh TARC, always coming up with weird shit. Gilles and Sean are definitely the dark horse to win!

Yes, Sean.

Team #4 – Sarah & Sam

ROADBLOCK: Race the Clock – Sam
DETOUR: Paddle
PLACINGS: 2nd, 4th (Avg 3.0)

Yes you are, Sammy!

My love for this team is growing, and I’m really torn between them and the Twinnies. Both had a strong leg, but Sarah and Sam had one up for me this time helping out Meaghan and Marie at the train track task. If this were Amazing Race USA I’d be all “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”, but this is Canada y’all! I do enjoy the fact that my two fave teams are in a potential alliance though. SO GOOD. Sam was a little wobbly at the motorbike Roadblock, but since then they remained in the top half of the pack. Another solid race overall by the Olympians. I’m calling it now though, I don’t care if it’s too early; they make Final 3!

Again, tens giving high tens!

Team #5 – Meaghan & Marie

ROADBLOCK: Race the Clock – Marie
DETOUR: Paddle
PLACINGS: 3rd, 5th (Avg 4.0)

Anyone else have a crush on Meaghan? No, just me? OK. The twinnies ALMOST ran the perfect leg!! Bloody trains eh. They smashed the Roadblock (seeing Meaghan run to Marie after the crash got my heart), and then the paddle Detour. Who knew a bunch of toys would have these girls stumped? One of the seemingly ‘easier’ tasks on the Race and Marie was contemplating taking a penalty. O_O I GASP.

Marie, calm the fuck down!

Thankfully, and they totally owe them, Sarah and Sam shared their track tips. It was really unfortunate to see 1st place runaway from them coz they truly ran a great leg. Fifth place doesn’t reflect this team! I’m hoping they bounce back next week <3

It was an epic stack.

Team #6 – Anthony & James

ROADBLOCK: Race the Clock – James
DETOUR: Plant
PLACINGS: 6th, 6th (Avg 6.0)

I’d really like to party with Anthony. He seems like a lot of fun! I couldn’t help but laugh when the boys reached the Pit Stop and realised they were 6th. 6th?! What is this blashpemy! Did they just miss the Olympians and Twins at the last task and thought they came 3rd/4th? Awks. I guess you are so focused on yourselves on the Race you sometimes don’t pay attention to others. At least they’ve been consistent, right?! They’re heading towards the ‘middle of the pack’ road, which means they may be eliminated in the next few weeks. The slower Plant Detour did set them back though. PICK UP THE PACE, BOYS!

Team #7 – Trish & Amy

ROADBLOCK: Race the Clock – Trish
DETOUR: Plant
PLACINGS: 5th, 7th (Avg 6.0)

This is awkward, because I completely forgot about Trish and Amy. Yikes! And you know what’s sad? 3 of the 4 all-female teams placed back of the pack. 🙁 Again, Amy kinda failed at reading the map, and the Plant Detour hindered their Race, but otherwise they didn’t really do much wrong! I know they say they’re not a middle of the pack team, but they’re showing it… Who knows what will happen next week!

Team #8 – Lauren & Joanne

ROADBLOCK: Race the Clock – Joanne
DETOUR: Plant
PLACINGS: 4th, 8th (Avg 6.0)

#TeamRegina!! Let us just regroup for next leg please. I don’t want to blame anyone for my heart palpitations, but *cough* Joanne, you really held us back! Haha. I can’t talk though coz I’ve ridden a motorbike and sucked at it. Losing Jet and Dave must’ve really gotten to the girls as things just didn’t go their way. Leaving dead last at the Roadblock, then getting frustrated at the Plant Detour, it was big sis Lauren who saved the day at the train task to keep them in the race against Nicki and Aisha. At this point I was hyperventilating at my faves being potentially eliminated. BUT, SOMEHOW, the Gods and Earth and probably Wonder Woman aligned to bring the sisters to the mat first. Hallelujah!

I want Joanne’s mittens!!

Team #9 – Nicki & Aisha

ROADBLOCK: Race the Clock – Aisha
DETOUR: Plant
PLACINGS: 8th, 9th (Avg 8.5) Eliminated

GIFFABLE MOMENT OF THE WEEK!

They brought tha flava! I am so upset. I wasn’t ready to let Nicki and Aisha go. There really wasn’t much hope with them coming 8th last week and it felt like they stopped for directions a million times this leg. Sigh. They were definitely by no means a weak team at all; it just wasn’t their race. I mean, we lost a massively strong team in Jet and Dave last week, so you never know what will happen. Nicki and Aisha failed to keep up with the pack and relied on other teams to fall back with them in the end. Very unfortunate to see them go as they had way more to give. Thanks girls <3

BFFS4EVA

Next week Amazing Race Canada keep bringing the goods with the new ONE-WAY, or DOUBLE ONE-WAY. Isn’t that just a TWO-WAY? I’m confused.
