Amazing Race Canada S7 – Episode 8 Recap

I’m just an Aussie who loves Canadian reality TV…

PRIZE: A Chevy Blazer each, a trip for two around the world, $250,000 and the title of AMAZING RACE CANADA!

START LOCATION: Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario
END LOCATION: La Malbaie, Charlevoix, Quebec (total copy and paste job)

Joanne for Prime Minister!!

Pegler, Piglet, Pickler, PICK-LIT! I have to be honest, I have no idea what Monty was saying and a few Google searches got me to the right sport. I also have no idea what Monty’s Pit Stop buddy said either… But I enjoyed the Aussie touch this episode with the emus! ^_^

Team #1 – Aarthy & Thinesh

ROADBLOCK: Meet the Press – Thinesh
BLIND DETOUR: That (Pick-lit)
PLACINGS: 7th, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 5th, 3rd, 1st (Avg 2.8)

Aarthy’s man. Hubba, hubba.

I’ve probably said this before but, this was DEFINITELY Thinesh’s leg. Now we know how he wooed Aarthy, um hello, did you see him being hella sexy in that suit?! Tracking back to the start of the episode, apparently Aarthy has never peeled a potato in her life. What girl?! And classic Aarthy laughing at Irina saying Lauren and Joanne suck at the Race. Hahaha O_O Thinesh takes his time with the Detour and smashes it out in two attempts. Praise!! He continued to impress at the Pick-lit task hitting 10s and 20s, while Aarthy is hitting the -15s. And lastly, they were lost for two hours and still came 1st?! #WINNING :O Yeah they argue and Aarthy’s emotions rise up every now and then, but surely these guys are on their way to finals though. Lock it in!

Team #2 – Lauren & Joanne

ROADBLOCK: Meet the Press – Joanne
BLIND DETOUR: This (Emu eggs)
PLACINGS: 4th, 8th, 4th, 5th, 6th, 4th, 5th, 2nd (Avg 4.8)

Lauren feeding Joanne poutine is the epitome of what this Race is all about! Haha.

Sexy and she knows it.

There’s no time for a leisurely brunch. JUST FEED ME!! Joanne does really well at the press Roadblock and it seems strange, but what works for her is by focussing on Dave’s giant bald head. Hahaha. This ultimately puts the girls in 2nd place for probably the first time on the Race. They randomly choose the THIS Detour and I actually hoped it was a Paint by Numbers emu egg… Alas! Nevertheless, my fave Regina sisters werk, werk, werked this leg to become Team #2!! So proud of my fave rainbow mittens <3

I’m not crying, you’re crying!

Team #3 – Dave & Irina

ROADBLOCK: Meet the Press – Irina
BLIND DETOUR: That (Pick-lit)
PLACINGS: 1st, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 3rd, 1st, 3rd (Avg 2.4)

As always, Irina starts off the episode nicely by bagging out another team. This week the lucky ducks are Team Regina; she doesn’t think they’re good enough to make Final 3! FINALLY we see Irina complete a Roadblock and ya know, Irina may look the part (her words), but public speaking is her biggest fear :O Dave does a good job to ensure his queen calms down.

Benefits of being multi-lingual!

When Irina tries she actually does really well. Bit of hard work won’t kill ya! Hilarious that Irina thinks because she did so well in the Roadblock that the rest of the leg, including driving and navigating, is up to Dave. Bloody hell, great team work. Surprise, Dave is the only one playing pick-lit… But he’s no good at it. Strike 50, you’re out, take a penalty, don’t pass go! Meanwhile, Irina’s first shot: 10 points! There’s been lots of talk about this couple and they are not well-liked at all. They have played to their strengths though, which we may not agree with, but we really can’t count them out on Final 3. O_O

Team #4 – Sarah & Sam

ROADBLOCK: Meet the Press – Sam
BLIND DETOUR: That (Pick-lit)
PLACINGS: 2nd, 4th, 5th, 4th, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 4th (Avg 3.3)

Aww, Sam looked super cute in the suit, but man he struggled with memorising the speech. Speaking from the heart in this situation just won’t cut it! Sarah and Sam also had a hard time with directions (they’ve become THAT team) that they fell so far behind even James and Anthony started the Detour ahead of them. Fortunately, the Olympians chose the Pick-lit Detour where they made up some time using their sporting prowess. The finish line looks to be slipping away from one of my favourite teams. I’d hate to see them leave next week! :O

The Pick-lit Shimmy!

Team #5 – Anthony & James

ROADBLOCK: Meet the Press – James
BLIND DETOUR: This (Emu eggs)
PLACINGS: 6th, 6th, 3rd, 6th, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 5th (Avg 3.9)

Jeez, and I thought Sam was struggling at the Roadblock, but it seemed James was internally freaking out. Like, major panic attack alert! :O Not sure if James was overthinking everything, but 9 attempts would have been draining! Lucky for them Team Olympia are bad at reading maps. They only just came 5th on this continuing leg… and I think it’ll all come down to endurance next week. I know I put Anthony and James in my F3 last week as dark horse, but as of now I’m not they’ll even survive the next leg. I think it’s a toss up between them and Team Regina :O
