Amazing Race Canada S7 – Episode 9 Recap

I’m just an Aussie who loves Canadian reality TV…

PRIZE: A Chevy Blazer each, a trip for two around the world, $250,000 and the title of AMAZING RACE CANADA!

START LOCATION: La Malbaie, Charlevoix, Quebec
END LOCATION: Thunder Bay, Ontario

Never though I’d see Canadians ‘cutting cheese’ on the Amazing Race.

Team #1 – Dave & Irina

FACE OFF: 1st – Beat Anthony & James
DETOUR: Cutting Edge
PLACINGS: 1st, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 3rd, 1st, 3rd, 1st (Avg 2.2)

“No running in the museum” At least Irina has respect for buildings… haha! How infuriatingly good are Dave and Irina?! Team #1, AGAIN! Their 4th number one and they led the way from collecting stamps, to the axe-throwing Face Off and spotting moose! Can this team do much wrong?! Dave needs to stick to one language though, his mix of French and English got Irina confused! They certainly are polarizing characters and TARC producers are probably loving the attention they’re getting, Dave sure doesn’t give a f*ck what viewers say either. Unless Irina has some MASSIVE breakdown, expect the couple to make the finals, and *vomit* possibly win this thing!

Team #2 – Sarah & Sam

FACE OFF: 3rd – Beat Lauren & Joanne
DETOUR: Cutting Edge
PLACINGS: 2nd, 4th, 5th, 4th, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 4th, 2nd (Avg 3.1)

Yasss, my Olympians scored another 2nd place and I’m feeling good! Although, Sarah still needs to work on that communication, because JEEZ there’s only 5 teams left and you’re still giving away answers. Sam’s face says it all…

But, Aarthy KNEW it was Thunder Bay! Eye-roll, warranted.

We’re getting down to the nitty gritty and it’s time to focus on yourselves. They should have got their clue first then told Aarthy and Thinesh as they were leaving. Being runners, I thought it was pretty sweet they got to visit the Terry Fox monument though. What a moment! <3 Sarah and Same came up against Lauren and Joanne at air hockey pulled off a great win! Being good at sports and table sports 😉 This definitely propelled the Olympians and they were able to smash out the Drone Detour in no time; great work guys!! Unfortunately, their direction skills haven’t improved and they arrived at the Pit Stop JUST before Anthony and James. Hopefully this won’t be their downfall (see Korey and Ivana S5) in the Final leg 😛 Still, they are my team to win this thing!

Team #3 – Anthony & James

FACE OFF: 2nd – Beat Lauren & Joanne (lost to Dave & Irina)
DETOUR: Cutting Edge
PLACINGS: 6th, 6th, 3rd, 6th, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 5th, 3rd (Avg 3.8)

So lucky boys being saved this leg, and without a Speed Bump! If only they had won the Face Off against Dave and Irina. Sigh. The Face Off can really make or break you and I reckon they got super lucky (again) that they beat Lauren and Joanne at the axe-throwing. The girls were workin’ it!! The boys really struggled and when I say boys, I mean James, at the Drone Detour. Was James unaware Anthony couldn’t see what was on his VR screen?! Coz it was pretty frick’n hilarious! Let’s be honest, he was a hot mess!! Thank goodness Anthony took over. A Final 3 spot looks likely for the married couple though. I just find it hard reading these guys as they’ve been all over the shop this season!

Team #4 – Lauren & Joanne

FACE OFF: 4th – Beat Aarthy & Thinesh (lost to Anthony & James/Sarah & Sam)
DETOUR: Cutting a Wedge
PLACINGS: 4th, 8th, 4th, 5th, 6th, 4th, 5th, 2nd, 4th (Avg 4.7)

Team Regina never stop hustling, and that’s what I love about them! They ALMOST beat Anthony and James at axe-throwing (where do you even decide to this in life?!) and unfortunately lost to Sarah and Sam at air hockey… maybe they were a bit rusty eh? So frustrating losing to two teams at Face Off. It really slipped them down to the back of the pack… Can they not catch a break?! Lol. And when you thought it couldn’t get worse, enter cheese. I was laughing so hard when Lauren cut the biggest chunks of cheese and there was SOOO much wastage. Hahaha. Thunder Oak Cheese Farm will never ask for The Amazing Race Canada back again! They thought they were getting help. xD Regardless, I still think the girls still have tricks up their sleeves and could slide into the Final 3. LET’S GOFER!

Lauren, put more effort in next time. xD

Team #5 – Aarthy & Thinesh

FACE OFF: 5th – Lost to Lauren & Joanne
DETOUR: Cutting a Wedge
PLACINGS: 7th, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 5th, 3rd, 1st, 5th (Avg 3.0)

*sheds a tear* Hi guys, I’m just in mourning. Let me know when Aarthy and Thinesh get a callback for All Stars… Oh wait, Dave and Irina that’s their spot to take! The dating couple did incredibly well on the Race and I know Aarthy spoke about her emotions, but we didn’t really see them come into play until the last few episodes. Aarthy held the team together in the first 6 or so legs and you do wonder if the toll of the Race just got to her (or the edit just not showing her cry all the time). They were dead last the whole leg (thanks shitty cab driver who doesn’t know there museums are!!) and the Face Off penalty didn’t help either. Knowing this going into the Cheese Detour would have killed them. Who decided they had to cut and package 32 cheese bags!? Anyway, they were a strong contender for finals and it’d hurt going from 1st to last, but what can you do. Aarthy and Thinesh have been a joy to watch, tough yet generous competitors and I really hope we see them Race again!! <3

Aww, my heart <3
