Episode 10: Days 22-24
BENRY FEELS
Ben is feeling on top of the world, mate! He feels he made the right decision swapping tribes with Henry and feels more accepted at Samatau. He’s ready to make some new friends 😀
Jarrad works his super quiet sneaky ways to recruit Ben in his alliance with AK and Peter. Ben is down with the majority and is happy to throw ZenHen under the bus. Unfortunately, the young lad is totally underestimating Henry, firstly he didn’t think Henqui were an item, and secondly he’s SURE an idol isn’t in play. Eek!
As for Henry, he has no swapping regrets. He thinks he has 100% control of Asaga and can do the same at Samatau… Until the tribes arrive at the Reward Challenge. Henry sees his wing woman is MIA! He thinks these people are silly and have no idea what they’re doing by voting her out. True, but you could say the same thing about him seeing them all as pawns. If anything, this moment humbles Henry a little.
ICE-CREAMS AND IDOLS
Asaga wins the ice-cream parlour reward. Jericho’s had 15 cones. Omg. There’s gonna be a different kind of soft-serve ice cream, later… YIKES!
Anneliese looks suspect whilst eating and finds an idol clue in her cone. It tells her to search the palm tree near Reward. She does a stellar job of covering up her search by collecting the tree husk at the same time. Well done, girl! She eventually finds a map that shows an Idol is hidden at the next Immunity Challenge. Sarah, who she thinks saw her find it, tells her she trusts her 100%! In that, Anneliese requests help from Sarah as she can’t be on the puzzle at the challenge, but she’s the puzzle queen. Now, I don’t like sharing of idols or clues, but so be it! Also, Sarah seems so shady to me. I definitely wouldn’t trust her with that kind of information.
SURVIVOR QUIZ NIGHT
Samatau are convinced Luke is now in charge at Asaga and Henry is pissed! He realises he doesn’t have much pull anymore, so what does he do? He tries way too hard to get on everyone’s good side.
WELCOME TO HENRY LIVE!
He uses his charm and it seems to be working… The tribe love him for camp morale. AK is sucking up and lets Henry destroy his own game as he shows everyone how likeable he can be!
Tessa is also on the same page as AK. They want the boy gone!
LOGIE WINNING PERFORMANCE
Game plan going into the Immunity Challenge is that Anneliese stays on the puzzle and Sarah grabs the idol. Fortunately, the way I see it, Asaga fails abysmally on the first obstacle that Sarah can’t even get to the Idol! This opens a fantastic chance for Anneliese to pull off a “ohh, we lost, I’m so poor” act to grab the Idol. And she does it!! This also gives her more power over her idol, being in her possession, although I’m still a bit annoyed she told Sarah she had it afterwards. Would Sarah believe her? Probably not. Nevertheless, I have some hope they will keep working together.
END OF AN ERA
While Luke feels safe as houses, Kent is NOT and wants Michelle out! And to sell his story, he opens up a lemonade stand just 50 metres down from camp. A little bit far, hey Kent?
He expects tonnes of people to buy a drink in return for their vote, and just as it starts to look embarrassing Tara becomes his first customer. Tara feels the same way, takes a glass and wants Princess Michelle gone. We see Sarah have a sip of lemonade and you just know she’s lying her face off and isn’t gonna pay Kent back by voting his way. Such a tease. The only person Kent gets any love from is his spooning buddy, Odette. Bless. The tribal council felt like it went forever with banter going back and forth between Kent and Michelle, but as Tara revealed in her voting confessional, there just weren’t the numbers to pull it off. So Tara gets free lemonade, Odette is ripped off, and Michelle gets to keep her crown at Asaga. Poor Kent, he becomes the last 40+ to get the boot, leaving Michelle the oldest person left in the game… coz 33 is ancient! Kent-5, Michelle-2, Odette-1.
Episode 11: Days 25-26
YOU MADE THE HALFWAY MARK!
Day 25 and the castaways receive gifts from home. Wow, last year’s cast would be LIVID not having such a thing or any luxury items! Personally, I’m not a fan of the touching moments and sob stories; that’s what The Voice is for! And they were just given gifts without working for it at a challenge. VERY ODD!! Anyway, we actually hear from Odette for more than 30 seconds, so this was a plus. After Michelle confesses that Odette is gone next, we see the poor love being all mopey around camp.
She’s just lost her last alliance member in Kent and is upset and feels alone. Luke walks with her to tree mail, what a nice guy, and low and behold, random gifts arrive! We then hear Odette’s sob story about her late mum, and son. She’s obviously been through a lot and definitely one of the more stronger people on the island. I admit even I was having feels and this is why I don’t like all the fluffy crap. Ugh, emotions. Then it gets worse with Henry’s story about his mum. Ugh, so sad.
We also see a hideous ice-cream shirt from Anneliese and my favourite gift was Jericho’s giant teddy which can be used as a makeshift pillow. Perfect!
MINE’S BIGGER THAN YOURS
Locky who? Luke catches TWO sharks! And why the heck did we not see it happen?! Cameramen were obviously sleeping. Jericho searches for a non-existent idol using Henry’s used clue. He admits no loyalty to Henry. Henry feels bad but wants to show he can still be trusted and work together at future merge… Sure.
SAMATAU BREAKDOWN
AK is loving stirring up Locky as he becomes increasingly aggravated with everything at camp, especially AK! Mwahaha. He just keeps rubbing him up the wrong way on purpose. AK trying to tell Locky how to make the fire in places that have zero wind was killing me. Locky’s had about enough and Samatau arrive with all their reward items to trade for flint. Jono says yes so quickly. Pretty sure he played mind games with Saanapu last year when they wanted to trade!
At this ‘Immunity Challenge’, tribes are not playing for immunity. NO! The winning tribe gets to go to tribal (WTF is this?!) to play for an “Ultimate bullshit Reward”. Challenge highlights: Ziggy’s powerhouse water performance, Michelle’s false start run up, and Anneliese and Sarah smashing the Survivor logo puzzle; Tessa and AK, so disappointing. And ayeayeaye, putting Jericho and Tara on throwing duties, big mistake!
AN ULTIMATE WHAT?!
After Locky eventually makes fire with the new flint, AK wants to get down to business – HE wants the Ultimate Reward. There are talks about maybe sending one person to compete for a tribe reward, and Locky wants to be that guy. On the flip side, Jarrad and AK are happy to put trust in Ziggy and Tessa to collect the reward.
At tribal, Jono tells them all they will vote to elect a ‘champion’ for the tribe and be sent to Exile for an Ultimate Reward. That’s it. Ben brings up maybe a Super Idol; oh he is such a super fan. Henry is smart to lay low and Locky is pissed when Ziggy is chosen over him as the “all-rounder” of the tribe.
Pete-1, Locky-1, Ziggy-4. Ziggy is sent to Exile and is given the chance to find this all-mighty Super Idol (kudos Ben!). Ziggy has until sunrise to find it in among the mangroves. After hours in the swamp, Ziggy finds the idol and decides to keep it to herself. And of course you have to, it’s not really a tribe reward is it!? Ridiculous. It really is a double edge sword now as she’s kinda fucked if she lies or not. Not everyone will believe her, even if she tells the truth, especially AK! I hope she does lie about what the idol actually does. What a frustrating episode… Just to clarify, one half has the power to negate another idol (e.g. Henry or Anneliese’s), and the other is a normal idol to keep you immune from going home. Also, this “Ultimate Reward’ is actually an Advantage (or Disadvantage) for an individual, NOT the whole tribe!
CRUSH OF THE WEEK
As my favourite Spice Girls sing (Wannabe), Ah-Ziggy-Zagame! Well, close enough. Ziggy is definitely at the top of my Crush board right now. She is strong, smart, isn’t afraid of calling out people at tribal and is hot to boot! As for the Spice factor, even Annabel and I agree on someone for once! Haha. Is there any better Olympian who’s been cast on Survivor?? Someone please let me know if there is!
Luke is not my typical guy, but his lovable, crazy self has got my crush feels going and I’m going to be devastated when/if he gets the boot!! I’m going to add a new spicy pair to my crush of the week in Anneliese and Sarah. I really ship #SaraLee and even though I find Sarah a bit snakey, I think they’ll be able to come up with the goods moving forward. And shout out to my eye-candy, Locky. I just love making Annabel cringe with my good taste in peeps 😉
THE SPICE RACK: WEEK FIVE

I can’t believe it is week five already, but here we are, and I am feeling more fickle-hearted than ever. Far from crowning my official 2017 #SurvivorAU crush, I feel like I am still waiting for the show to properly introduce us to many of the contestants. I want more Peter, Odette, Jarrad, and Sarah before I commit. This week on the Spice Rack I backflip on my Henry feels once again, stress for my bae AK, and cosy up to the gal with the goods, Ziggy.
Kent went home in the shocking plot twist everyone except Henry saw coming. Happy capitalist to the very end, Kent’s shop couldn’t save him in the anarcho-democracy that is Survivor. The Henry/Jacqui/Kent/Odette alliance looked like it had some serious legs on it a few weeks ago, but I think even the fans determined to see Henry’s voluntary tribe-jump as a good move would have to point to it as his downfall now. Last week I called out Henry as a Taylor Swift Heartthrob, but a couple of memes (thank you Zen Hen Appreciation Page) and quality tears-on-the-beach later, I am definitely feeling more Lana Del Rey. I am back on the Henry bandwagon I know is doomed to crash spectacularly. He’s bad, but so good; sorry Lyndz!
I LOVE the Jericho/Michelle/Luke alliance – they are so sassy and fun. I don’t necessarily love good strategists over good characters, but I think these guys are a great mix of both so everyone is a winner. Anneliese and Sarah also make a super-hot power-pair so I am mega pumped to see more from them. My main concern is that the success of the above is going to come at the price of my current fave, AK. Whatever way this tribe shake-up goes down next week, I can’t see it looking great for him. His enemy-to-friend ratio is looking a little dicey at the moment, but that said, please keep causing drama with them all AK, because I love it.
My heart must have no limit for love because I am also swooning over Ziggy. The best thing about her super-idol is that we will probably get more Ziggy screen-time. Preferably screen-time which isn’t blemished by Locky self-congratulating in the foreground. I think she is someone who has a lot of options moving forward, so it will be great to see more of her as a character in the game.
In other words, I am crushing on almost everyone, but in a ‘you’re going to need a strong Instagram game for me to keep this up’ kind of way.
