Episode 14: Days 31-32
FEAST FIGHT
I LOVE a good blindfold challenge. An Italian feast is up for grabs and Michelle and Tessa can only think of one thing.

Whilst Anneliese takes the ‘smash a watermelon’ quite literally…

Samatau take an early lead even with Michelle drunk on the imminent wine she’s about to consume. Luckily for them Asaga struggles as Sarah gets lost on the course, but with jumping Jericho leading the way, Luke catches up to catapulting Locky.

Samatau win reward AND they get to pick two people from Asaga to join them… the clear choice being Peter, and the snakey Sarah. Henry tells Sarah he’s close to Anneliese and Locky and they agree that Luke needs to go next. There are some serious strategic bonds happening and it is exciting to watch; it’ll be interesting to see if they actually stick come merge. Peter tells his old Samatau group that Sarah’s been trying to protect him, AWW.

THE MESSY A-SAGA CONTINUES
Sarah really wants Luke out and wants to use Peter. She even approaches Luke with this plan to string Peter along. Luke doesn’t buy it at all; remember Sarah, this guy doesn’t like being told what to do! He wants Peter GONE. Luke becomes so frustrated and tells Tara they need Odette on board to vote Sarah out. I found it strange how he couldn’t tell his best man, Jericho, about this plan though. He doesn’t want to upset the Cookie Man. Tara sees Luke as another AK and blows up his game. She tells Sarah he’s gunning for her. Her hair is definitely not full of secrets!! (Thank you, Mean Girls)
LET THE WINE TALK!
Michelle is high on wine and gets to work. She’s gunning for Henry. She tells Locky she thinks Henry has an idol. UH OH. To be fair, Michelle has no idea they know about Henry’s idol and is just doing what she can to stay in the game. Use what info you have to the best of your ability right?! Michelle is so entertaining. I see her bringing a huge bottle of Moet to every tribal council if she makes jury.

Henry feels pretty safe in the game right now and is proud of his accomplishments so far. He is also targeting Michelle for outing his mate Ben in the first place. Gotta give it to Henry, he has grown on me the past couple weeks; I know, hard to believe after what I’ve said in the past 😛 He’s laid low since entering Samatau and I see him being a dominating figure in the merge.

TRIBAL COUNCIL GROUP THERAPY SESH
Sarah works on Odette, who we know has voted with majority all game. Odette totally freaks out when Sarah tells her she holds the power this vote.

Luke v Sarah. Tara is confused AF. Jericho just wants mum and dad to kiss and make up already!! Sarah really doesn’t want to vote out Peter at this point, I’m assuming because of her ties with Samatau… she can’t look bad in front of them at Tribal!
Now, after a whole lot of squabble at tribal, Jono suddenly whips out the fact that they aren’t actually there to vote tonight. The sanctity of Tribal Council has been ruined by Australian Survivor, turning it into group family therapy! Jono wants to ‘shake up the game’ by giving someone the chance to Mutiny. Straightaway, I think Sarah should jump. She has ties on Samatau and Luke keeps giving her daggers. But of course, dear Peter mutinies, with very good reason, and joins his misfits back at Samatau. Some may say this is a spineless move, but seriously, if you knew you were on the chopping block (which he was), wouldn’t you jump back knowing you had numbers there?! Anyway, this was the biggest waste of an episode in my opinion… Moving on!

REIGN OF THE COOKIE EMPIRE

CRUSHES OF THE WEEK

MERGE PREDICTIONS:
THE SPICE RACK: WEEK SEVEN
Follow Annabel on Twitter
Still in mourning after the loss of AK, aka BaeK, last week, we somehow managed to survive another non-elimination episode, and a traumatic break up. Who says we don’t suffer for what we love? Asaga’s rapid descent into chaos made the Samatau Cold War look rather appealing, and Peter thought so too. All the happy childhood memories of our parents’ relationship meltdowns were triggered this week, as we related to Jericho, trapped between warring parties. With all my crush attention refocusing on USA Survivor coming soon, this Spice Rack is dedicated to trouble in paradise (Samoa).
The Break Down
My favourite pair this season is Luke and Jericho, and I was crushed to see the first signs of trouble. While I don’t doubt Jericho was close with Sarah (she is part of the cookies alliance after all), we all know lies are the start of a relationship in trouble, and Luke’s lie about the vote seemed dangerous. Fortunately, Jericho seems to be the forgiving type, and didn’t seem too devastated to find out Dad was lying to him. Meanwhile, Sarah gets asked out for dinner by Samatau, things get pretty cosy with Henry, and Luke does not like it. Jericho just wants everyone to get along, but Mum’s gossipy pal Tara is dying to let him know his whole life is about to implode. Alas, Tara figures slyly revealing his parent’s relationship issues in private would be less fun than blowing the lid at family therapy later that night.
The Break Up
Wow what a tribal council. Luke’s lust for dominance versus Sarah’s cool, collected backroom strategising. With witnesses and everything. Odette is embarrassed; why can’t Mum and Dad save it till they get home? Jericho is devastated. Peter has had enough, and moves out as soon as he gets an opportunity. Sarah is worried this will leave her weakened, but miraculously when they get home, Luke seems more pissed at Tara.
‘Let’s try one more time for the kids’
It is still staggering to me that Luke and Sarah managed to get back together for the Odette vote, but then again, with Jericho’s brave effort at the immunity challenge (if you don’t love Jericho you are wrong), maybe they felt like they should give it one more go for old times’ sake. While I think, in the long run, this was a big win for Sarah, I feel like Luke will regret choosing a temporary truce over safe-bet Odette.
Christmas Dinner
The truth will all come out next week when everyone is forced together in one, big happy family, and are forced to play nice. Will Sarah run away with Henry and leave Jericho feeling crushed and dejected (but probably absorbed into the new family when Dad gets the axe)? Will rekindling an old flame, Michelle, save the day? Will Luke wear Tara’s belt if she gets voted out before him? So many questions – I’m sure it will be a hot mess, can’t wait.
