Survivor New Zealand S2: Episode 7 Recap

How I feel after this episode.

Days 19-20

Post tribal and Manbun Matt realises he needs to keep his radar up! He calls it, Sneaky Sneaky Dylan!

At KhangKhaw, while Tess is battling a scorpion for treemail, poor JT is not feeling well at all and talks about how long he’s wanted to play Survivor… Yikes, are we going to see our first quit of SNZ?!

At Chani, Adam confesses he cried the whole night after Josh left (drama kween)… and that he thinks he’s playing with “REAL VILLAINS” on this tribe. HAHAHA. Wait, what?! The ultimate villain thinks others are more villainous than him. He questions Renee and she does well to deflect any animosity off herself (TeamReeRee!). Adam’s finally seeing what Survivor is about, maybe he’ll stop shit talking and start playing!

Manbun Matt confesses he doesn’t fully trust Dave, and I’m actually glad! This game puts real relationships to the test and it’s SO EXCITING! He realises he needs to get in the good books of Arun more than anyone else, and it makes you think… Jeez, maybe they should try and get Arun out next!? He’s making great strides in this game and no one is even targetting him.

REWARD CHALLENGE

Tess and Brad are shocked AF to see Josh gone. Seems like Josh was the one who held the KhangKhaw “tight five” together, so it will be great to see how the other four fend for themselves!

Reward are two very skinny chickens and eggs. We’ve seen this challenge many times, wrap yourself around a post and the other tribe try and drag you back to their mat. Although have we seen this been done in mud before?

Adam’s having way too much fun with Brad! Heehee.

Eve is up first for KhangKhaw, and it’s unfortunate Dave and Arun are chosen to drag her. She actually does really well!! She’s not a big girl at all, but did she kick up a fuss about it? I don’t think so. To be honest, the forfeit was a letdown to watch; maybe they could have put Renee on to replace one of the boys. At the same time you have to give credit to Dave and Arun for stopping it; never know who’s watching and which consumer groups will complain about what they’ve seen on TV. I can think of many US Survivor males who wouldn’t give a damn! After all, we’ve seen girls rip each other to shreds too! Parvati (Shallow) dislocated Steph LaGrossa’s shoulder in a similar challenge! I have to agree with both Dylan and Adam on this one. I’m sure the girls would speak up if they were uncomfortable with it. Or surely #kiwijeff would’ve stopped it; Probst would! KHANGKHAW WIN REWARD!

When you have a rough night in the drink.

KhangKhaw come to the realisation any match-ups at Reward and they would have lost anyway. Haha.

THE OUTPOST

(I’m so sad, Dylan never got to go to the Outpost!!)

It’s Outpost #7 and in the ring is Lisa v Dave! Dave spies a secret parchment and he’s like f$ck the puzzle, I’m the real winner here!

It’s a Catch Phrase puzzle and it reminds me of last year…

Still funny… Stop being immature Lyndz

Lisa wins pretty quickly and with the reward being a “Steal a vote” advantage, she references (Stephen) Fishbach! Ten points to Lisa! She decides to tell her original KK tribe members about her advantage. What she tells the tribe comes across as awkward… and we thought Tess’ mattress story was bad. Gosh, it probably is best just to lie and say you lost and didn’t know what you missed out on. JT really puts Lisa on the spot and it’s hilarious! He also guesses correctly that it’s a double vote.

“I am soooo the Survivor NZ Know-It-All!”

Back at Chani and Dave’s only got his hidden idol on his mind. Keep it to yourself, Dave!! And this reminds of the other idol Brad has claimed from Tess… We’ll see if these guys use it wisely. Dave tells his tribe about Lisa’s double vote, and here comes the pending discussion of throwing challenges. Chani assume KK will vote out either JT or Eve so don’t want them to lose… KK want to throw the challenge because they want to vote out JT or Eve! Never have we seen both tribes want to lose so badly!

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE

OOH A MATH PUZZLE! It’s a real physical first half of the challenge and you can see Brad thinking, how was I left with the duds?! Chani take the lead early and work on their puzzle. KhangKhaw are back in it and Sexy Matt calls out Tess for saying it’s straight forward…. Umm. Haha.

NO DEAL.

Lisa sits out on the side, sick or working her math magic? KhangKhaw win Immunity, JUST! And no thanks to Lisa! Who was meant to try and throw the challenge. Hard to hide smarts eh? πŸ˜› Unfortunately, Survivor NZ doesn’t know how to calculate equations properly and as an accountant I’d be livid if #kiwifjeff told me I was wrong.

Correction: (12+6-13) x 44 / 11 = 20, or 12+6-13 x 44 / 11 = -34

At Chani, Adam is desperate to keep Manbun Matt, coz he ain’t continuing in this game with Dylan! LOL Renee says she’s voting Matt because he voted for her last time. Tit for tat. But we all know she’s just saying shit because Adam’s sitting right there. Adam finds Dave and tells him Dylan and Renee are throwing Matt’s name around and the besty ain’t happy. Dave wants Arun to vote with him and oust Dylan, but Arun has other thoughts and to him Matt is his biggest threat (no brainer!!). Dave tries to use the “oh but Matt has ties on the other side to help us out”. Yeah, that’s smart coz they will just vote you out as soon as possible! Renee is right she can’t trust either Dylan or Matt, but Dylan has ZERO ties and will be loyal if you let him in. Matt has Adam and the rest of KhangKhaw on his side! Chani are kidding themselves not voting out Manbun Matt (oh that hurts just to say…)

Oh these two…. </3

At Khangkhaw, #kiwijeff rocks up to camp… Ruh-Roh! JT apparently called Matty in and wants to leave the game due to his ongoing health issues. WHAT?! I’m curious to know if he had medics check on him before he made this decision? I’m so confused. What an awful feeling to quit and knowing you’ve waited 20 years to play Survivor (2 years before the series even began); not an easy decision! OH JT… We had such high hopes for you πŸ™

TRIBAL COUNCIL

WAAHHHHHH. Of course, Dylan talks about wanting to make the merge. Renee pipes up about being pissed being the scapegoat if Dylan had an idol at last tribal; yeah, you tell ’em girl!! Fortunately, she is safe this time around. Dylan seems somewhat confident and I can feel it in me waters things are not going to end well. Arun has shown how game-savvy he’s been and I’m really surprised after a slow start. Also, anyone notice how quiet Adam is at tribal, but very vocal in confessionals? Haha. It’s time to vote…

Me neither <3
But also this… <3

The heartbreak!!

Just missing out on merge, Dylan goes home in a unanimous vote. And you can’t help but think what a poor decision it was for original Chani going into merge. If only Dave and Matt didn’t know each other in real life dammit! Also can’t believe there was a tribal council even after JT’s quit. I’m just glad we didn’t see Sulky Dylan on the way out πŸ˜› Dylan-5, Matt-1.

Smiles all round from the Superfan! Dee, take note.

NEXT TIME ON… SURVIVOR NZ

[Matt Adam Tess Brad Lisa Tara | Eve Renee Dave Arun]

We are entering the merge phase, WOOHOO!! And just as predicted, shark Renee is wading the shallows to see when to strike next! Who will she align with? I’m hoping she can make some moves on Lisa and Tara. Those girls have to get out of that original KK alliance.

Adam calls himself ruthless, finally!! He’s come to his senses! And Dave realises he can only trust in Matt now, so like he’s just putting himself in a goat position. Oy vey!

Cast Assessment Tally. So many wrong guesses… πŸ˜›
