Survivor Ghost Island starts this week. WHAAAATT?!?! And to celebrate, I have Flick Egginton from Australian Survivor to chip in with her thoughts on the twenty newbies. Are our thoughts similar? Who’s in our final 3? Read ahead to find out!
NAVITI TRIBE
LYNDZ:
Initial Reaction: Badass, mum-type I can totally root for
Overall thoughts: Unfortunately, the closest person to Angela’s age on Naviti is Domenick and if we’re talking females it’s Kellyn (who is ten years younger)! I’m finding it hard to see how this military mum can make it to the end, but if it’s any consolation, she’s definitely going to be a work-horse around camp. I want Angela to put those kids to work with that ridiculous Chore Chart; it would be hilarious! If Naviti can win challenges early on, Angela may have a chance on making it deep.

Initial Reaction: I don’t think she will fit in amongst the rest because of her (army) background and her liking being in control will not work out well for her in the game of Survivor.
Overall thoughts: I like her, but think she will be an early boot.

Initial Reaction: Arrogant, or highly-confident? Doesn’t bother me, I’m already a fan!! Also, reminds me of Clark Kent. Maybe Bradley will be my Survivor Superman… <3
Overall thoughts: I’m hoping Bradley’s intelligence and showing it off doesn’t get in the way of him getting ahead in the game. Bradley seems highly opinionated as well, so we’ll see if he can speak up and also shut up at the right times. I do think he has the chops to make it to the end though.

Initial Reaction: Seems like a smart guy, but I worry he won’t fit in socially like the others will, unless he finds his own clique.
Overall thoughts: I have a feeling he will be an early jury boot because people won’t trust him and he will be a strategic threat but I hope I am wrong cause; would love to see him make some big moves!

Initial Reaction: Chuck Chelsea in the 90s, put on a choker and she’d pass off as the 5th long-lost Halliwell sister! (Refer to Charmed)
Overall thoughts: Honestly, I didn’t think much of Chelsea’s bio and was one of two contestants I completely forgot about after revisiting their bios. Oops! She does seem super competitive, I mean hello, cheerleaders (are awesome by the way), but I’m gonna have to peg her as an earlier boot or at least pre-merge.

Initial Reaction: This girl comes across as a huge threat! I think she will be extremely smart, but play a little dumb.
Overall thoughts: I think she is going to make it deep into this game if she aligns with the right people.

Initial Reaction: Nick Carter’s cousin? Mactor? Blonde tips are sooo two decades ago.
Overall thoughts: Hmm, seems like an alpha male to me, so you gotta be hella good to have me on side. Chris thinks he’s like a Michaela… If he can whip out as much fire and sass as her I’ll give him some kudos! But I dunno about that. No doubt Chris will be an asset in challenges early on and he’s certainly someone you wouldn’t want to make the latter half of the game. I do think he’s on a strong team so will make it to at least the merge, but whether he has the strategic chops remains unseen.

Initial Reaction: Good looking and seems like a sweet guy! I have a feeling he will be a floater.
Overall thoughts: Won’t be making any big moves and just go with the flow of what others want, but this will be good for him because he can be pulled along.

Initial Reaction: WHO RUN THE WORLD!?
Overall thoughts: OMG, I LOVE Desiree!! And who doesn’t love a good Des on Survivor. Although a social person, she sounds like a hot rod, and I hope she can keep her face quiet when she needs to. Even her appearance is LOUD, and I like it! Please, please, please don’t leave early, Desiree!! She seems likeable, however I’m afraid her mouth will get her into trouble.

Initial Reaction: Seems like a smart, confident woman, but I can’t see her making the jury.
Overall thoughts: I think she will open her mouth about something and it will be her biggest downfall.

Initial Reaction: Gotta love a New Yorker!
Overall thoughts: Strong, smart and overall seems like a dude most people will want to work with, or at least keep around for a while. Would be a great meat shield as well, but I’d also be weary of this guy cutting my throat! Would love to see Domenick go all the way and I think he’ll bring some interesting game-play to our screens. I can also see the ladies watching saying “DoMeNick”! Too crass…?

Initial Reaction: I like him. I feel like he will be a good leader too.
Overall thoughts: Seems like a smart, likeable guy! Hopefully we see a bit of strategy from him as well!

Initial Reaction: A human rainbow! And she loves Skittles; makes sense.
Overall thoughts: Ohh, Kellyn is someone I can’t help but root for. What a character she will be. I’m just worried we won’t see enough of her!! I mean, look at Simone last season, she was highly entertaining and we lost her too early… Or maybe that’s just me. Kellyn apparently loves gambling, so this is the perfect show for her! It will be interesting to see how much of a risk taker she is is especially with what Ghost Island brings this season. I also love that she sees herself as a mix of (Kelley) Wentworth and Aubry Bracco; two ballsy women. Let’s see if Kellyn can walk the walk…

Initial Reaction: I think she will find it hard to fit in! Social game is so important especially early on and I don’t think she will fit in like the rest will.
Overall thoughts: I think she will be one of the first to go.

Initial Reaction: Stop saying “Killer Whale”, it’s an Orca!!
Overall thoughts: Jeez, the whole SeaWorld trainer thing has gotten some people talking, and I’ll probably cop some hate too but, YES, I have been to SeaWorld (San Diego). Once when I was ten and again as an adult, and wow the impact of Blackfish has been devastating for that place. I’m surprised someone like Morgan is talking her job up and I guess it’s something she loves, but society has moved on from the novelty. I wonder if CBS will use this as a talking point in the show or just sweep it under the rug. Kudos to Morgan though who fulfilled her dream (set in the 90s) to become an Orca Trainer. Let’s hope her childhood dream of competing on Survivor works out for her too! She’s driven though, I’ll give her that.

Initial Reaction: I like her, she seems like a smart tough girl, but I worry she will be too much of a threat early on.
Overall thoughts: I think she will probably align with the wrong people and be blindsided one way or another.

Initial Reaction: Another surfer dude.
Overall thoughts: Sebastian claims to be a Survivor super fan so for that I am grateful. He seems very wishy washy and Fabio-like, so I’m not sure how far he’ll get in this game. He’ll need a partner in crime to call the shots, which isn’t all that bad. I think this guy will just be going with the flow and get along well with the other youngens on Naviti. Wouldn’t be surprised if Seb got blindsided and convincingly.

Initial Reaction: Seems like a likeable down to earth guy!
Overall thoughts: I don’t think he has studied the game like others and I think he will be a little naive in the game and it will cost him!

Initial Reaction: Give ’em hell, Wendell!!
Overall thoughts: Ooh, I feel Wendell will not only be an asset around camp (being able to build shit and all), but have a great social game and form alliances early. He seems like a really likeable guy and I think he’ll be able to hide his intelligence. A bit like Jeremy Collins, I’m hoping Wendell can be a dominant factor without appearing as the biggest threat and if he can do that, expect a Final 3 performance!

Initial Reaction: Seems like a clued-in guy and will probably be great around camp.
Overall thoughts: I think people will catch on to how smart he is and will keep him around or a bit, but boot him pre-jury.

MALOLO TRIBE
LYNDZ:
Initial Reaction: First crush pick of the season… Typical, I know.
Overall thoughts: Honestly, what is not there to love about Brendan?! I feel he will be mainly respected by his tribe, give or take a couple (looking at you Jacob) and be an asset in challenges. Malolo is a strong tribe and I expect them to dominate early, so Brendan can just sit and look pretty. Definitely see a bit of Tom Westman in him, which is hopefully a good sign!

Initial Reaction: I love him! He is smart and will be great in the challenges too! Seems like a likeable guy!
Overall thoughts: I have a feeling he will make it deep and unless he is blindsided close to the end I think he has a really good chance at winning this game if he plays his cards right!

Initial Reaction: I feel like his name is a typo…
Overall thoughts: Determined and gutsy, I think Donathan will be a dark horse this season and if he can maneuver the early part of this game with his lovable manner, I think he has a great shot at winning! I’m all for any cast who is LGBTQI, so Donathan is automatically on my HOT list. Going by his bio, the Kentuckian (?) has a great story to tell and I can’t wait to see it unfold on the show. I think a lot of viewers will be able to relate to Donathan and his childhood. As for the other contestants, it will depend if they want to take someone like Donathan to the end who could potentially receive sympathetic votes, but even so we don’t know how his game play turns out… I hope it’s EPIC!!

Initial Reaction: Watch out for Donathan! He will be the likeable guy this season. I think a lot of people will underestimate him!
Overall thoughts: Hoping he will pull off some big moves and make it to the end! I like his character!

Initial Reaction: Survivor Nerds are taking over!
Overall thoughts: I feel like Jacob will put up with anything in this game, even people he doesn’t like. I only say this because Jacob is a Superfan and an ex-Inside Survivor writer and knows this game inside and out… Or thinks he does… Like we all do right?! Haha. Don’t overthink it, dude! I think Jacob will be likeable enough on the tribe, and he claims he’ll do whatever to keep the camp happy including hauling firewood etc; I just hope Jacob’s name won’t be all over the Chore Chart! We’ll see how far his humour takes him as we’ve seen with past players it can get really old, fast.

Initial Reaction: Seems like he has studied the game pretty hard but sometimes this can actually be a downfall!
Overall thoughts: I think he may over analyse everything and end up getting voted out because people won’t trust him. I think either late pre-jury or an early merge boot.

Overall thoughts: Ahh, the youthful looks of Asians; totally thought he was older. But I’m allowed to say that π James is fit, highly intelligent and doesn’t seem like he will push buttons unless provoked, so I have high hopes! One of his pet peeves is slow walkers, amen to that James, you already have my vote!!

Initial Reaction: What’s wrong with poop?
Overall thoughts: Gosh, there are so many 24 year olds… and Jenna is one of my faves to go far in this game. Young, but well-driven and adventurous, I think Jenna has a lot of boxes ticked and should be able to maneuvre this game to how she wants it. I’d like to think Jenna will be calling shots here. I do worry about her hating internet trolls though, she does know she’s competing on a show that attracts thousands of them…!! Also, her extremely long arms may come in handy in challenges π

Initial Reaction: Seems like she will be a big social threat and strategic threat, I like her!
Overall thoughts: She will play under the radar a bit, but be pretty observant and aware of what’s going on around her. I think she’ll make it pretty far!

Initial Reaction: Don’t underestimate nerd power.
Overall thoughts: On the outside she looks like a total bookworm, but delve a bit deeper and you’ll find someone who is equally athletic and should be able to hold her on in challenges, which will be important in the early stages. If Laurel can show she’s not the weakest link, and I don’t think she will be anwyay, she should be good to go for the rest of the game. I think Laurel has the chops and awareness to how she’ll be perceived by others and I’m calling it now, she’s going all the way to the end!

Overall thoughts: I think others will catch on to how cluey and smart she is and send her packing as she will be a big strategic threat.

Overall thoughts: Except I really liked Jefra, so Libby has a lot to live up to π Has anyone else mentioned Natalie White in their bio as a contestant they’re most like? Well I actually give even more credit to Libby for doing so, because I feel Natalie didn’t play a terrible game at all. Her social game was on point, and thought I highly doubt Libby will be going up against anyone who is like Russell, there will be others who will be happy to align with her as a lacky. I won’t count her out as an early boot either.

Overall thoughts:Β An 18 year old acting like a 23 year old. I am keen to see how this unfolds, and even then a lot of 23 year olds haven’t lived a whole lot either! Michael will definitely catch the eye of some women, I also expect the flirt card appearing early on and can’t wait to see who the cougars will be!! Juicy!! I’m not sold on how Michael will actually approach this game though being so young and if he’s trying to put up an older front, how his decisions will be perceived and if he can stick to his guns. After a week will it all just fall apart?! We’ll see!

Initial Reaction: First impression is he is a smart, good looking guy and I think he is pretty mature for his age. The fact he is in sales means he knows how to sell to people and that is great in the game of Survivor!
Overall thoughts: I think his downfall will be his life experience. I think you need a lot of life experience to win this game, unless your extremely lucky! I have a feeling he will do something silly and get voted out between 5th and 8th.

Initial Reaction: Crush pick #2! A little bit of spice from Puerto Rico!
Overall thoughts: Loves the ocean, she’s already being called by her surname and her pet peeves are arrogant men, bullies and pretty boys… And I feel like she’d be a real ball breaker too. Watch out Michael!! Haha. Gonzalez will obviously have no problem in water challenges, which are aplenty in Fiji, and I can see a brewing alliance with the likes of Brendan. And funnily enough I’ve plopped her in as my final Final 3 pick!

Initial Reaction: Bubbly, fun and bright; what’s not to like?!
Overall thoughts: So many Survivor fans on this season, seriously we are being spoilt! Stephanie is a strong, independent woman and is ready to get her head and bright tights into this game. No seriously, have you seen her leggings?! It’s all I could see on screen! Steph is an ironwoman and looks to have the endurance and passion for Survivor. Even so, I feel like she may be underestimated because of her personality, but I won’t be counting her out early at all. I think we’ll be seeing plenty of yoga classes on Malolo beach!!
