The Amazing Race S30 – Episode 6 Recap – Hold the Phone!

Did someone say FREE BEER?!

PRIZE: A trip for two around the world, some mini prizes (SPAH included), $1,000,000, and the title of TAR!

START LOCATION: Les Baux, France.
END LOCATION: Prague, Czech Republic.

We’re officially half way through the season and I was surprised we didn’t have a non-elimination episode this week, especially when we didn’t have one in the double! With only 6 episodes left, I’m expecting two more non-elimination legs in the lead up to the finale. This week I am DEVO with the losing team, shocked at the Firies and excited by the whole Brittany v Jessica rivalry!

Team #1 – Kristi & Jen

DETOUR: This
ROADBLOCK:
Hello, Hello, Hello? – Jen
AVERAGE PLACING: 2.2 (LW 2.4)

Umm, these ladies can do no wrong! Well, they’ve yet to show it. Sure they got lost trying to find the boat to deliver their beer, but so did everyone else. Jen smashed out the worst Roadblock I’ve ever seen; seriously, it would drive any normal person mad. I’m also glad Jen did it on her own and didn’t work with Daniel. When you’re on to something good, why stop and help anyone else?! (We’ll get to Jessica later) Can Team Extreme be the 4th all-female winner team? I wouldn’t put it past them! They also won a trip to Perth, Australia. Girls, call me when you get here!! 😉

Team #2 – Eric & Daniel

DETOUR: That
ROADBLOCK:
Hello, Hello, Hello? – Daniel
AVERAGE PLACING: 6.0 (LW 6.8)

Wowsers, where have these guys come from?! The Twinnies are literally on fire right now, and have totally put my previous comments to shame. I actually think they would have done a whole lot better at the Beer Detour, because 9 attempts at 10 questions at the That Detour was a bit much!! Haha. Nevertheless, they still completed the Detour ahead of any other team. At the Roadblock Daniel was doing well, and then Evan rocks up. They start working together and by that time I swear Daniel already had 8 out of the 10 words! I mean, at least it got the Twinnies out of there quickly and to top it off they end up beating Team Yale to the mat; it would’ve been embarrassing if they didn’t! The Firies game is heating up, and I actually think they’re gonna make the Top 5! :O

Team #3 – Henry & Evan

DETOUR: This
ROADBLOCK:
Hello, Hello, Hello? – Evan
AVERAGE PLACING: 4.2 (LW 4.4)

It’s already forgotten that Evan chipped a tooth last week and Team Yale proved they are still a force in this Race. Having their best placement since the first leg, Henry and Evan finished the Detour in no time; albeit Evan having a little bit of a go at Henry for not sticking to the plan. Some of us are just control freaks, ya know! I’m actually disappointed they didn’t do the lecture Detour and live up to their nerd expectations. Haha. But it’s OK, the intellectual who is Evan, latched on to Daniel at the Roadblock, knowing he’d been there for a while and pretty much stealing most of his words. Hahaha. Make it look like you worked for it! 😉 I have a sneaky feeling Team Yale crack the Top 3!

No proposal this week for you, Evan!

Team #4 – Alex & Conor

DETOUR: This
ROADBLOCK:
Hello, Hello, Hello? – Alex
AVERAGE PLACING: 3.7 (LW 3.6)

Sometimes I think to myself, how are these guys still in the Race?! Haha. They have always been up there with the leaders of the pack, and have even placed first, but I’m just not buying that these boys will make it to the end. They’re not terrible, but not fantastic either. In saying that I think this is the first week we haven’t seen the Indies struggle on a Roadblock or Detour. Also, they have been very consistent playing middle-of-the-pack and have even matched Team Big Brother’s average of a 3.7 placing! At the Roadblock, Alex couldn’t work out why Jessica would lie to him and Brittany. Lol. Careful boys, don’t get played!

Team #5 – Lucas & Brittany

DETOUR: This (after failing That)
ROADBLOCK:
Hello, Hello, Hello? – Brittany
AVERAGE PLACING: 5.8 (Last Week 6.0)

A newly engagement couple wouldn’t be a true newly engaged couple if they didn’t have a chuck a little tanty every now and then, and Lucas and Brittany gave us just that. You sometimes woder if they truly get along, but of course! Every feeling is out of love 😉 Sure Lucas gets frustrated with Brittany, and she just wants to wring his neck, but they both have a mutual weakness; the classroom. Seeing their bored faces brought me back to Uni days, hahaha. They were hating it!

I feel ya…

I don’t blame them for switching Detours at all. If you’re not into academia or even just paying attention to someone on a dull topic (which it wasn’t at all; the world is totes flat y’all! :P) you’re not going to do well in this task. Unless you have the patience like the Firies, fuggediaboutit! After pouring the perfect beer, Brittany was on the Roadblock and jaysus her face at Jessica asking to work with each other… HA! Which in the end she did, eyerolling. Did it help? Somewhat. Fortunately, Team Baywatch were able to beat the sneak Big Brother couple to the Pit Stop in a respectable 5th place. Go team!!

Team #6 – Cody & Jessica

DETOUR: This
ROADBLOCK:
Hello, Hello, Hello? – Jessica
AVERAGE PLACING: 3.7 (LW 3.2)

Sneaky, sneaky!! Personally, I had no qualms with Jessica giving Alex and Brittany half truths at the Roadblock; again, this is a game, and it seems like only Team Big Brother are playing a risky game. They already set a target on their backs from the start being one of the most physical teams, and have now rubbed up two teams the wrong way (Baywatch and potentially Indies). Thankfully they got rid of another threat in Team Well Strung who they ended up U-Turning. And why wouldn’t you?! Second to last team, you need to think about yourselves. It was the right move and who knows, without it, Cody and Jessica may as well have been the ones eliminated! I’m a bit concerned with Team BB. They have so much potential to make it to the end, but they have lapsed somewhat lately. I’m hoping they can make a surge in this latter half of the game.

Never put your hand in another man’s beer!!

Team #7 – Trevor & Chris

DETOUR: That and This (U-Turned)
ROADBLOCK:
Hello, Hello, Hello? – Trevor
AVERAGE PLACING: 5.2 (LW 4.8)

NOOOOOOOO. My gayyyyyyyyys!! Alas, the most fun team of the season are gone. Trevor and Chris were charismatic, humourous and cute to boot! With a string of bad luck (no pun intended) and inability to finish many tasks ahead of others, albeit being a very strong team, the boys slowly found themselves from the middle to the back of the pack as weeks went on. The U-Turn this leg was the nail in the coffin when they had to complete both Detours. Not that they had any problem doing them at all! They were most impressive at the lecture hall answering questions with ease and of course the beer kegs wouldn’t be a problem. Unfortunately, time again was a factor and nothing was going to save them ☹ I was hoping it would be a non-elimination leg as well as it’s known there will be four this season and we’ve only had one! I’ll miss you, Well Strung!!

Love you, boos!
