The Bachelorette Australia S7 – Week 5 Recap

DISCLAIMER: Whoever Brooke chooses and is happy with, I’ll be happy with. Coz she needs my permission and all xD

It was the penultimate week of the Bichelorette and it was A LOT to digest. We had our final group and single dates and hometown week all jampacked into 3 episodes!

Quickly recapping Wednesday night, we saw a beautiful single date with Holly, where Brooke shows her some traditional indigenous weaving. I’ve heard this is extremely special and it was just a lovely moment. They also have a D&M where they finally spoke about families and logistics of living locations. Holly mentions Brooke really needs to impress her mum and sister, the most important people in her life. I felt this was a huge precursor to what unfolded at the hometowns :'(

Honestly, after a 3 hour binge of this weeks eps, all I remember of the group date were the cute kiddies and Millie tackling everyone in sight! Adults, kids, except Brooke! Why did you not tackle Brooke to the ground, Millie!? Missed opportunity there. 😉 Even Brooke was impressed with her competitive side. Alas, the good boy Kurt won some one-on-one time with Brooke. It was interesting seeing Kurt, Holly and Jamie-Lee interact with the kids. The two women didn’t give the kid a bar of their time, where Kurt made sure she was involved in the puzzle. Ha! I’m sure Kurt and Brooke had a great yarn, but he’s so monotonous my memory fails.

After a toy plane by Luca and jewellery gift from Will was interrupted by suave Darvid’s surprise flowers, Brooke sent the two boys packing and no one batted an eyelid.

On to Thursday night and we have our FINAL single date with the one and only Sportsbet accredited, Darvid. He is just so charming and it pains me to say he’s got this in the bag. As I’ve mentioned in previous weeks, the dude just walks into the room and Brooke wants to jump him. How can anyone compete with that?!

The final group was art therapy where the bachies all had a naked Brooke sitting in front of them and I was disappointed no one painted boobies. The only painting that stood out was Konrads and it was bloody spectacular!! He put so much effort and thought into it you just wanted Brooke to propose to him already! Everything in the painting referenced Brooke and her life, it was inevitable he was going to win the one-on-one time. And that he did. This is where the bomb dropped when Brooke questioned Konrad on what he’s going to do for a career now he’s quit carpentry. Crickets. Awkward facials ensue and Brooke is sooo unimpressed with Konrad’s airy fairy answers (when we see his parents it’s understandable) and she is so conflicted in being with someone who has no direction or ambition in life. THE DUDE WILL COOK YOU BREAKFAST EVERY MORNING. But also, you’ll have to be his sugar mama, sooo… :/ Considering what Brooke has been through since she was young with no parents, it is so valid wanting someone who has financial stability and life goals similar to hers. Lucky for Konrad, he’s getting a final chance!

At the rose ceremony we said a tearful goodbye to Millie and Kurt. In the end maybe Millie was too young, though she seemed mature beyond her years. And Kurt, sweet, beautiful Kurt. I hope you got that coffee with Brooke 😛

TO HOMETOWNS! First up is Konrad. We meet his parents and brother via Skype and we see why he is such a beautiful human. Everyone now wants Konrad’s dad as theirs. Including me. They tell Brooke that Konrad has been very badly hurt by relationships before and not to break his heart if hers is not in it for the long haul. You just know it’s not, and that she has to cut him before he gets WAY too invested… Which he probably already is. RIP Bronrad <3

Second on the ranks is the intensely beautiful, Jamie-Lee. Brooke was able to visit her beachfront digs and I’m thinking, this would be a sweet spot to live! Sure, Jamie-Lee gives us stage 5 clinger vibes, but she is ALL IN with Brooke and desperately wants her best friends to love Brooke as much as she does. Brooke gets a grilling from JL’s bestie, but Brooke comes up with the most wonderful compliments and the besties sigh in awe. The one thing Jamie-Lee didn’t do, and probably from nerves, was tell Brooke she loves her. Because she does. And my heart hurts that she didn’t say it! <3

Third is Darvid and they already look like a loved up couple on the couch talking to his mum and sister. Sigh. Haha. It didn’t take much to impress them and they only concern they had was Darvid’s business and tight family in Brisbane. They pretty much gave Brooke an ultimatum that SHE had to move there to be with him. Darvid, time to delegate and relocate to Melbs. Excuse me, obviously this is all about what Brooke wants! I’m sure we will see more this discussion next week.

Finally, it’s the hometown the promos were making us dread all week, Holly’s. It all started out fine and dandy meeting Holly’s mum and sisters in person and they truly did like Brooke. It was Holly’s mama who caused Brooke to panic realising that 1) Holly doesn’t want kids (or just one), and 2) she doesn’t want to move to Perth, period. Both valid, but also dealbreakers. And relationship items which would be on the bachie application!! I’m not sure if there was any miscommunication there, because Brooke spoke about having kids with the blokes, or maybe they were just swept up in a love bubble they never reached that conversation. Nevertheless, Brooke confronted Holly and it was just HEART BREAKING. Brooke’s eyes welled up and as she ran off to cry, we all cried with her. Holly was meant to be end game. </3

And to make matters worse, Konrad is let go. He would have 10 babies with you Brooke. He probably would have somehow carried the child through pregnancy for you. Alas, his lack of direction put Brooke off and their star just couldn’t align. Goodbye, gorgeous man.

My Final Bachie Rankings:

1. DARVID

27, QLD

OK, it’s come to the point where I have to admit defeat. I’m not waving my white flag just yet, but it’s going to happen. Darvid came in as the Persian Prince and now with Holly pretty much out of the way, he’s going to win Brooke’s heart. There, I said it. Our first queer Bachelorette and it was too good to be true that a woman would win… Ha! Darvid truly is a beautiful man, albeit a little boring, and Brooke has mentioned how safe she feels with him many times during the season. They were a perfect match from Day 1 and it’s not surprising if they continue a relationship on the outside. If any man was to win, I’d pick Darvid too!

2. JAMIE-LEE

30, NSW

Choose Jamie-Lee, please Brooke, please!! She will have ALL the babies. As many as you want! She will move to Perth… 8, even 15 hours out from Perth!! We are desperate for a woman to win your heart. I feel Jamie-Lee has shown she will do anything for Brooke, but it may be more one-sided in the love department. We’re all going to get our heart broken aren’t we? Brooke, please let Jamie-Lee down lightly. So typical if she goes down the “but I still want to be friends” route. The queers can never win. I’m already getting tissues ready for the Final 2 ceremony. Preparing myself as we speak…

3. HOLLY

27, NSW

It’s not over ’til it’s over. Though let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Even the promo for finale week is looking real bleak. Holly will become 2nd runner up, and hearts are breaking all over Bachie land. She was meant to be the one. It must have hurt hearing that someone you really like doesn’t want the same things you do. Sure, Brooke has a lusty connection with Darvid, but I felt something more pure with Holly. The kids and location issues are way too strong though and massive dealbreakers for so many people. It just won’t work… a year or ten years down the track one of them wouldn’t be happy. Best to let Holly go at Final 3! *cries into pillow*
